About
I grew up in Příbram in Central Bohemia, not far from Prague, and played guitar from the age of nine. I was raised on a weird mixture of folk, country and jazz-rock, and I had a local funk band for five years during high school. I lived in the UK for nine years, where I earned a BMus at the London Centre of Contemporary Music. I then worked as a sound engineer in London's clubs and toured the country with an orchestra ensemble and a party band. I spent a year in Dubai as the sound engineer at Zero Gravity, where I met many great DJs. In Prague I did sound at clubs and theatres, toured with bands and a modern circus company, and ran front of house and monitors at festivals. I recorded and mixed soul music for Memory Records and played guitar in wedding bands. Through the pandemic restrictions, I produced announcement libraries by voice-over talents in over 40 languages, as well as countless live streams. For the last five years I've lived in Kenya, absorbing African cultures and lifestyle.
The project I'm proudest of is running sound at Jatka78 in Prague, where I was Head of Sound from 2018 to 2020. Jatka78 is a contemporary theatre hosting international acts, TV productions and experimental performances, so every show was different and every night was a new challenge. I managed the entire audio department, built the workflows, trained the freelance team, and made sure every show sounded right. The job taught me how to listen under pressure and deliver consistently, which is exactly what I bring to mixing now.
